Dolores Eleanor
Anderson
September 2, 1927 – March 16, 2019
Dolores E. Anderson, 91, of Superior, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Cedar Ridge Assisted Living with her loving daughters at her side, and comforted in the love of all her family.
She was born September 2, 1927, in Fonda, Iowa, daughter of Hillis and Dorothy Duitsman. As a young woman, Dolores worked for the Equitable Life Insurance Company and as a telephone operator. When she met Loren Anderson, almost at first sight, they fell in love. Soon after, they eloped and were married in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on March 22, 1958.
To her family and those who knew and cared for her, Dolores had a calming, nurturing way capable of helping her loved ones get through life's struggles through her reassurance. Her love was always there and unconditional. A beautiful, complex soul such as hers cannot be described in a few short words.
Dolores enjoyed spending time with her family, especially on Lake Superior. She also loved picnics and Sunday drives. She encouraged a love of reading, an appreciation of family, and how to love the beauty of nature. She was also funny, and enjoyed time spent telling stories and making jokes with family and friends. Despite having a large family, she made each of us feel special and unique, and always loved.
Dolores is preceded in death by her parents Hillis and Dorothy Duitsman, her husband, Loren, who passed in 2004; 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
Survived by her daughters, Lorri (Steve) Prendergast, South Range, WI, Lisa Anderson, Superior, WI, and Deb Folsom, Superior, WI; step-son Tom (Tina) Anderson, Superior, WI, her sons, Bob Anderson, Lakewood, CA, Chuck (Gail) Anderson, Ocean Shores, WA, and Larry (Nicole) Anderson, Sun Prairie, WI; 3 brothers and 2 sisters, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service is being planned and it will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to thank Krystal S. and the St. Croix Hospice staff, as well as the Cedar Ridge Assisted Living staff for their amazing support and loving care. We would also like to thank her friends, all the other residents of Cedar Ridge. They meant so much to her and their friendships brightened her last days. And thank you to Al Butterworth for his caring guidance and the staff at Downs Funeral Home.
