Dolores E. Liska, 87 of Poplar, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016 in the presence of the Lord and her family.
Dolores was born in Oak Park, IL on Dec. 11, 1928 the daughter of Edward and Lucille Steinbring.
She married the love of her life, Edward Liska, on Dec. 4, 1948 in Berwyn, IL. They lived in Hillside, IL before moving to Maple in 1972.
She worked on their dairy farm and took pride in raising their children. Dolores was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Poplar and was part of the Church Choir, Alter Guild, Ruth Circle, and the Women's Quilters. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing Bingo, going on casino trips, and writing short stories and poems.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edward on Mar. 14, 1996; brother, Donald Steinbring; brothers-in-law, Albert and John Liska; sisters-in-law, Agnes Liska and Lillian Sechen; and her sister-in-law and lifelong friend, Dolores Liska.
She is survived by her children, Deborah (William) Eklof of Iron River, Gary (Dianne) Liska of Superior, and Karen (David) Korhonen of Poplar; grandchildren, Elisabeth (Shayne) Dalbec, Nathan (Katie) Korhonen, Sara Liska, Andrew Eklof, Nicholas (Amanda) Korhonen, and Donald Liska; great-grandchildren, Nicole, Cole, Mariah, Noah, Cameron, Carter, Atley, and Hadley; sister-in-law, Mildred (John) Kallinen of Maple; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tues. Mar. 29th from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th St. and Ogden Ave. Visitation will resume on Wed. Mar. 30th from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Peace Lutheran Church in Poplar. Rev. Donna Rutten will officiate. Burial will be in the Poplar Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dolores's grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
