Donald E. 'Donny' Haugen, 67, of Superior, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at his brother's (Thomas Haugen) residence in South Range, Wisconsin.

Donny was born in Superior on February 20, 1955, the son of John and Jean (Erickson) Haugen. Preceding him in death were his parents and niece, Lana Haugen. He is survived by his brother, Thomas Haugen of South Range, and many other relatives including Nancy Haugen, Jill and Jade Devriendt of Williamsburg, VA, LuAnne (Duane), Jeremiah, Emily (Kyle) with baby Sabrina, and Michael Turnage of Grand Haven, MI, and Joanie (Michael) Beaulieu of Superior; and many friends whom he would have considered equally family.

He was a lifetime resident of the Superior/South Range area and graduated Superior Senior High in 1973, going on to complete his studies in sociology and music from the UW-Superior.

His work history includes line worker for Jeno's, security officer at UW-Superior, maintenance at Pattison Park, stocking clerk at City Market, and logger. His most pleasurable job was being a musician and entertaining people.

For years Donny was known throughout the Midwest as an accomplished arm wrestler. He won several championships including Minnesota State Champion as the best right-handed and left-handed arm wrestler. He also enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, trap shooting and shooting sporting clays.

Don was a very generous and giving person. He often quoted Jesus' words, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." He always brought gifts and the gift of his horn-playing to everyone he visited.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 2nd from noon until the 1:00 funeral service at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19th Street, Superior, with Gary Banker officiating. There will be a gathering to celebrate his life from 2-4pm at Log Cabin Tavern on County Rd E in South Range.
