Donald J. Peterson, 91, of Superior, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at New Perspectives in Superior.

Don was born on June 17, 1935, in Isanti, Minnesota, to John and Ester (Haglund) Peterson.

On April 8, 1961, he married Dorothy "Maxine" Harp in Superior, Wisconsin. Together they built a loving family and shared many years together.

Don had a lifelong love of the outdoors. He especially enjoyed fishing for walleyes on the St. Louis River, hunting white-tailed deer and ruffed grouse, and spending time woodworking in his garage. He also loved playing cards with family and friends.

Above all, Don's greatest joy was his family. He faithfully supported his children and grandchildren, attending their sporting events and school activities whenever he could. He will be remembered for his kindness, generous spirit, and willingness to help others.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Maxine; his brother, Duane Peterson; and his sister, Mary Peterson.

He is survived by his children, Angela (Dennis) Smith and Jason (Leah) Peterson, and his grandchildren, Julia, Brock, and Quinn.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Downs Life Celebration Center, 1902 N. 34th Street, Superior, Wisconsin. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Wright, Minnesota.
