Donald "Don" R. Rochon, 78, of Superior, died Friday, December 27, 2013, at Golden Living Center, Superior, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's.
He was born December 31, 1934 in Bayfield, WI, son of Joseph and June (Kent) Rochon.
Upon graduating from high school, Don joined the Navy in 1953, spending most of his tour of duty on submarines.
Don graduated from WITC-Superior, as an architectural draftsman, where he worked on the plans for Superior Senior High School and Spirit Mountain Recreation Area. He spent many years working on many projects as a draftsman, as well as freelance drawing for Superior Glass. Don retired from the City of Superior, serving as the building inspector, a career he truly enjoyed.
He was a longtime member and secretary of Eagles Aerie 80.
Don enjoyed golfing at Pattison Park Golf Course and bowling.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Bobbie; sister, Joan Berka; and brother, Gene Rochon.
Survivors include his daughters, Sue Rochon and Mary (Jeff) Pohjonen; granddaughter, Erin Pohjonen; brothers, Richard, Ken, John (Cindy), and Joe (Gena) Rochon; sisters, Virginia Meyers, Donna (Rick) Schuman, and Carol Rochon; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the 12 noon Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, January 3, 2014 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Superior. The celebrant will be Reverend Father James Tobolski.
The family invites everyone to join them for a luncheon in the parish hall, immediately following the Mass.
Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Bayfield, at a later date.
