Donna Mae Smith, 83, of Superior died Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the family cabin in Lake Nebagamon.
Donna was born on April 17, 1934 in Linwood Township, MN the daughter of Ivan and Jennie Ely.
She had worked as a realtor for 13 years with Badger Realty, 7 years with Realty Two and 30 years for Donna Smith Realty. Donna went back to school in her 50's and earned her nursing degree. She also worked many years as a nurse for Middle River Health.
She enjoyed playing cards, reading, gardening and fishing. Most important to her was spending time with her family.
Donna is survived by her daughters, Katherine (Richard) Gierl and Sharon (James) Wiita; sons, Richard G. (Sandy) Smith III, Michael R. (Rae Ann) Smith Sr. and her "fourth son", Marty (Kathy) Botten; grandchildren, Christine (Darren) Eliason, Mindy (Mike Eastman) Woodhull, Patricia (Mark) Keopke, Marcus Matthews, Colin (April) Wiita, Jennifer Wiita, Adrea (Alex) Youker, and Crystal Wiita, Angela (Matthew) Johnson, Brandon (Laura) Smith, and Nicholas (Angie Johnson) Smith, Richard G. Smith IV, Michael (Laura Tomlinson) Smith Jr. Jason (Kasie) Smith, and Dustin Botten; great-grandchildren, Devin and Trevor Eliason, Ashley Sikorski, Brandon and Tyler Eastman, Isaiah, Maria and Lauren Wiita, Ashton and Abram Youker, Natalie and Matelyn Johnson, Carter, Oliviah, Annelise and Gabrielle Smith, Hayden and Carson Smith, Richard C. Smith, Emma and Lucas Keopke, and Emily Botton; sister, Gloria Lemke; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Ely; and many nieces and nephews.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Richard G. Smith, Jr.; her son, Kenneth R. Smith; sisters, June (Arthur) Johnson, Clarice Carson, Shirley (Harry) Schroeder, Sharon (Rodney) Anderson and Lois Colley; brother, Sidney Ely; and brother-in-law, Duane Lemke
Visitation will be on Friday, May 19 from 5-7 p.m. and will continue on Saturday, May 20 from 10a.m until the 11a.m funeral service at Downs Funeral home, 1617 N 19 th St.
