Doris E. Aslyn, 86, of Bennett, died Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth.

She was born on October 8, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Lillian (Graham) and Robert Turnbull.

On August 30, 1957, in Centerline, MI, Doris Evelyn Turnbull and Harley Duane Aslyn were united in marriage.

Doris graduated as valedictorian from Warren High School in Warren, MI with the class of 1955. She then earned her bachelor's degree from Alma College in Alma, MI followed by her master's degree from UW-Superior. Doris taught home economics and computer classes at Cathedral School, Superior, for 22 years.

People will remember her great smile and generosity. Hummingbirds and butterflies were just a few of God's creations Doris really enjoyed.

Doris was a member of United Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Pioneer Parish, and at one time was the moderator for the Northern Waters Presbytery. She was active in the Superior Lions Club and received the Birch-Sturm Award. Doris enjoyed gardening, cabin life, and helping Duane make maple syrup.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of over 66 years, Duane; son, David Aslyn of Spooner, WI; daughter, Deebra Aslyn of St. Paul, MN; grandchildren, Grant (Sintia) Aslyn, and Rachel Aslyn; and great grandchildren, Giavanna and Jason.

Visitation will be from 10 until the 11:00 a.m. service Friday, May 3, 2024, at United Presbyterian Church, Superior. The burial will be at Bennett Cemetery, Bennett, Wisconsin.
