Doris A. Sannwald, 89, of Superior, died Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at Villa-Marina Health and Rehab in Superior.

She was born in Greenwood, WI, on August 26, 1928, the daughter of Carl and Vivian Schmidt.

Doris sewed for Minnesota Woolen and Garon Knitting Mills before becoming a nurse's aide for St. Mary's Hospital in Superior.

She was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Superior.  Doris loved to sew and was an avid Wisconsin sports fan.  Most of all, she loved her family and time spent with them.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Walter Sannwald; sister, Lorraine Luchterhand; and brothers, Herbert Schmidt and Ellwood Schmidt.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Susan (Jerry) Johnsted of Superior; grandchildren, Matthew (Katie) Johnsted of Superior and Michael Johnsted of Superior; great-grandson, Nathan; brother and sisters, James Schmidt of Las Vegas, Phyllis Linebaugh of Madison, and Shirley Bertrang of Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.

Her graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017, at Greenwood Cemetery in Superior. Rev. Will Mowchan will officiate.

The family would like to thank the staff at Villa-Marina for their wonderful care of Doris.
