Duane "Duke" D. Peterson, 92, of Superior died on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at St. Mary's Hospital in Superior.

Duke was born March 17, 1932, in Isanti, MN to Esther (Haglund) and John Peterson.

He worked his entire career as a railroad conductor first with the Great Northern Railway, then Burlington Northern Railroad and retired in 1996 from the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railroad after 46 years of service.

Duke was a hard-working man; he would often help is neighbors with snow blowing and mowing grass.  He enjoyed hunting grouse, an avid deer hunter and was a talented woodworker.

Duke was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Nancy and his sister, Mary Lillian.

He is survived by his brother, Donald Peterson; his children, Kathryn (George) Skandel of Superior, Michael (Cheryl) Peterson of Superior, Mark (Claudia) Peterson of Duluth, Scott (Glenda) Peterson of Paris, ON, Timothy (Mark Grebner) Peterson of Duluth, Shawn (Brenda) Peterson of Duluth, and Traci (James Chadwick) Lane of Superior; 16 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday November 15, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service in Downs Life Celebration Center, 1902 N 34th St. Superior, WI.

Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
