Duane J. "Bucky" Smith, 67, passed away on March 4, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family. Bucky was born in Superior, WI on March 10, 1958 to Judy "Finn" and Philip "Hyper" Smith.
A highly skilled carpenter by trade, Bucky was widely admired for his exceptional skill and dedication to his craft. Friends, relatives, and customers alike trusted his steady hands and keen eye for detail. His work reflected not only talent, but patience, integrity, and pride in doing things the right way. Bucky had a gift of making things come together and was creative along the way.
Bucky had a witty of humor and was well known for giving family and friends a nickname, whether they asked for it or not. He enjoyed watching Bob Ross and often spent time creating painting inspired by Ross. His favorite past time was watching TV, as long as he had control of "the button".
Bucky was preceded in death by his parents Judy and Paul Smith; father, Philip; brothers, Philip "OB", Danny, and grandson Elias.
Survivors include his life partner of 36 years, Andrea "Getta" Gucinski; his children, Duane, Nicki, and Jeffery Smith; stepchildren Paul (Karen) and Michelle Gucinski; siblings Wally (Louise), Paulette, Paul "Bubber" (Vicky), David (Eunice) Smith, Doreen "Babers" (Gary) Beasley, Dennis (Sonja), Coco (Barbara) Smith, and Phylys (Randy) Sigler, and Charles (Julie) Smith; his 11 grandchildren, numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Gronk's Grill & Bar, 4909 E. 2nd St., Superior, WI.
