Earl P. Carlson, 86, a lifelong resident of Superior, Wis., died Dec. 13, 2013 in Essentia-St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth, Minn.
He proudly served his country during WWII in the Army, stationed at West Point.
Earl was the owner and operator of the former Carlson Electronics located at Belknap St. & John Ave.
He is survived by his wife, the former Jean C. Johnson; two children, Dale and his wife, Karen Carlson of Hayward, Wis. and Cheryl and her husband, Dick Balcer of the Town of Superior; six grandchildren, David and his wife, Paula Carlson of Seeley, Wis., Joel Carlson of Hayward, Jonathan and his wife, Kara Carlson of Springbrook, Wis., Dr. Charleen Balcer and her husband, Dr. Troy Rowekamp of Sioux Falls, S. D., Shelley (Ryan Fraley) Balcer of Superior, and Chad Balcer also of Superior; and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding Earl in death were his parents, Irene (Valade) and Walter Carlson; a brother, W. James Carlson; and a sister, Beatrice Jackson.
A private family memorial service and inurnment at Calvary Cemetery will take place at a later date.
