Obituary

Earl H. Wiedeman, 90, of Superior, died Friday, February 11, 2022, at Essentia-St. Mary's in Duluth.

Earl was born on a farm in Ray Center, MI, on December 2, 1931, but his birth was not legally registered until Dec. 20, 1931. He is the son of Otto and Mable (Peters) Wiedeman.

He married Vivian Wysocki on May 30, 1976, and they celebrated 25 years of marriage until her death in 2001.

Earl began sailing on the Great Lakes when he was 17 years old. He served his country in the US Army from 1954 to 1956 and returned to sailing on the lakes until his retirement in 1996.

Earl enjoyed fishing, small engine repair, bowling, and mini golfing. Most important to him was spending time with his family.

He was preceded in by his parents and wife; grandson, Kalen (Kathy) Pohjonen; brother, Edwin Wiedeman; aunt Lindey and niece Barbara.

Earl is survived by his daughters, Carolyn Whitaker of Superior and Kimberly (Andy) Anderson of Hudson, WI; sons, Tommy Whitaker of Superior and William (Susan) Whitaker of Hinkley, MN; grandchildren, Taylor, Trevor (Margaret), Eva, and Jenna; great grandson, Kassius; sister-in-law, Shirley Wiedeman; and nieces, Diane and Luann.

Visitation will be held on Friday Feb. 18 th from 5:00p.m. until the 6:00p.m. funeral service at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19 th St. Superior with Gary Banker as officiant.

Military Honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.
