Obituary

Edith M. Hadlock, 99, longtime resident of Dairyland, died Saturday May 2, 2015 at Villa Marina Health and Rehab in Superior.

Edith was born on Dec. 28, 1915 in Wabash County, IN the daughter of James and Ruth Hopkins.

She was a cook working for Capital T Restaurant for 17 years, on the Great Lakes Ships for 10 years, the City Jail and the City Market. She was also a foster mom for many years. She enjoyed quilting and made several baby quilts for the church.

She was a lifelong member of the Thomas E. Stein VFW Post 1091 Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Moose Lodge, and a member of the Daughter of the American Revolution.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Ray Hadlock in 1963; sons, William, Leon, Allan and Ray; and her parents and step-father, Emil Bliese.

Edith is survived by her two daughters, Lois (Darwin) Young of Danbury and Rose Marie Hammerley of Orange, VA; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Thursday May 7, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th St. and Ogden Ave. Pastor Greg Gullicksrud, of Concordia Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverhill Cemetery in Dairyland.
