Edward J.Stramko, 92, lifelong resident of Superior, died Wednesday September 18, 2024, at Villa Marina Health and Rehab.
Edward was born in Superior on November 19, 1931, the son of Stanley and Anna (Olaf) Stramko. He served his country honorably in the US Army.
Ed worked for the Superior Fire Department for many years. He had been a member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge and a Superior High School Booster.
He was an avid sports fan, some of his favorite teams being the St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packers. He loved going to the sporting events of his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews whenever he could. In his younger years he was a talented athlete, playing basketball, fast pitch softball, bowling and golfing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara (Leonard 'Pickles') Campbell; brother, Stanley Stramko and great nephew-in-law, Wayne Luoma.
Ed is survived by his nieces and nephews, Len (Peg) Campbell of Superior, Barb (Bruce) Edwards of Superior, Cindy (Rob) Downs of Wascott, and Laurie (Karl) Siehs of Menomonee Falls, WI; great nieces and nephews, Cami, Josh, Terra, Jessie, Robbie, Annie, Tommy, Joey, Amanda, and their spouses; great great nieces and nephews, Anna, Jake, Austin, Mason, Maggie, Natalie, Nate, Jed, Johnny, Andrew, Gordon, Dexter, Piper, and one more on the way.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 27th from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Cathedral of Christ the King Church, 1111 Belknap St, with Fr. Andrew P. Ricci as celebrant. Military honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be Edward's great nieces and nephews.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, St. Jude's, or Feeding America.
