Elizabeth
Meysman
August 3, 1924 – June 23, 2017
Elizabeth 'Betty' Meysman passed away peacefully on June 23, 2017, in her home with one of her children at her side. She always wanted to pass away in her own home and her wish was granted. We are honored to grant that request.
Betty was born on August 3, 1924, to Paul and Serafina (Karaba) Hudacek. She lived in Superior all her life and was married to her husband Phil for almost 60 years until his death in 2006.
Betty was a homemaker and a very good one. She was a beautiful seamstress, liked to crochet, and could upholstery furniture. She cooked, baked, canned, and looked after her children. She enjoyed being busy. It always kept her going. Her other interests were golfing, gardening, dancing, her church circle, and in later years gaming at a few casinos (a guilty pleasure).
Betty's Kitchen was open daily at 6am for coffee and conversations until just 3 months ago. Special thanks to her brother, Ed, who showed up most mornings for many years. It gave her a reason to get up and get going each day.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Phil; son, Ray; brothers, Joe and Tom Hudacek; sisters, Mary Doyle and Theresa Paulus.
She is survived by her sons, Dan, Ken, Jim, and Jerry Meysman; daughters, Cathy Meysman, Vicky (Gary) Schold, Patty (Dick) Lier, and Julie Meysman; grandchildren, Darla Meysman-Johnson, Cal Gould, Jordon Wigfall, Lindsey Schold, Derek Schold, Hannah Lier, and Callie Lier; brothers, John (Dorothy), Paul (Betty), Ed (Carol), Bill, and David (Lynn) Hudacek; sisters, Fran (John) Turk, Sally Ward, and Bernadine (Dick) Sampson; her special friend, Mary Blume (thanks for all the memories); and many nieces and nephews.
Betty's funeral service will be held at Holy Assumption Catholic Church on Saturday, July 1, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation one hour prior.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
A special thanks to the Encompass Health Care and Assisted Living where Betty resided for the past 3 months. The staff was wonderful and she was well cared for. Thank you to Louie and Einer who welcomed her to their table. She enjoyed meal time and conversation about days past.
In lieu of flowers, Betty would like you to donate to the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435 Color Guard (305 Harborview Parkway, Superior, WI, 218-348-0635). The donations will help the all-volunteer color guard. Her husband, Phil, and son, Ray, were veterans.
