Elizabeth Joy Zumbrunnen, 63, of Superior, Wis., passed away Tuesday Nov. 23, 2010 at her residence.

Betty was born on August 9, 1947 in Eveleth, Minn. the daughter of Louise (Sedgeman) and Earl Holmes. She was a 1965 graduate of Gilbert High School. She spent most of her adult life in Hutter, Minn.

She married Michael "Micky" Zumbrunnen on Oct. 12, 1973.

Betty had worked for Spiegel Catalog while living on the East Coast, Target in Duluth and most recently she worked for United Health Care for 13 years. She also served as a State Fire Warden.

Betty was a member of the Women's Auxiliary VFW in Gilbert and the United Presbyterian Church in Superior. She also served on the committee to rename all the roads in Biwabik Township. She enjoyed going fishing and scrapbooking.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Betty is survived by her husband of 37 years, Micky; her mother, Louise Holmes of Biwabik, Minn.; children, Michael (Connie) Zumbrunnen of Tenn., Angelina (Chris) Scribner of Waconia, Minn., Carrie (Steve) Sutherland of Superior and Darin (Georgene) Tisdell of Superior; grandchildren, Kayla, Kyle, Bridgette, Amanda, Kaila, April, Michael and Linzee; great-grandchild, Ayla; brothers, William (Lucia) Holmes of Lakeland, Minn. and Robert (Patricia) Holmes of Aurora, Minn.; a sister Christine (Kevin) Korpi of Otsego, Minn.; special cousin Robin (Jim) Licari of Gilbert, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.

Her visitation will be on Sun. Nov. 28th from 5-7 p.m. at Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th St. and Ogden Ave in Superior. Visitation will resume on Mon. Nov. 29 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at the Gilbert Community Church United Methodist, 201 Wisconsin Ave., in Gilbert. Pastor Dorothy Bull and Rev. Joel Huenemann will co-officiate. Interment will be in the Biwabik Memorial Cemetery, Biwabik Township.
