Elma E. Neuvonen, 97, of Duluth formely of Superior died Monday February 15, 2010 in Chris Jensen Health and Rehab in Duluth.
Elma was born January 14, 1913 in New York Mills Mn. to Wilhelmiia (Peltoma) and Henry Neuvonen. Elma attened school in New York Mills through the Eighth grade and then became a housekeeper for Jesse and Catherine (Redding) Schunk until Mr Schunk's death.
She moved to Duluth in 1951 and took her L.P.N classes at Miller Memorial Hospital (Now Miller-Dwan). And had worked for Miller Memorial Hospital from 1952 until her retirement in 1975 after twenty-three years of service.
Elma moved to Superior in 1978 and resided here until 2001.
She is survived by a sister, Mayme Perna of St. Petersburg Fl, a special friend Dorothy Nettleton of Duluth, and many nieces and nephews including her caregivers Loretta Davidson of Duluth and Sharon Perna of Dayton Mn.and many friends
Elma was preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers and five sisters.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Friday in Concordia Lutheran Church with Rev. Charles Plaster officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
If friends so desire memorials may be given to Donors favorite charity or to Chris Jensen Activities fund.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Chris Jensen Health & Rehab for their loving care of Elma for the past eight years.
