Elroy James Wanek was granted his angel wings on March 30th, 2013, just 53 days after his wife Lorraine, of 66 years, passed away. His final weeks were spent at Golden Living Center, Superior, WI, where he patiently waited to complete his journey in this life and once again be joined with the love of his life, Lorraine.
Elroy is survived by children, Darlene Stahl, Cambridge, MN, Kenneth Wanek (Claudia) of Foxboro, WI and Wendy Remmers (Dwight) of Big Lake, MN; grandchildren, Kevin, Brad, Christopher, Kyle, Sarah, Kalen and Lonnie; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Mitchell, Kaitlyn, Sydney and Ava; as well as in-laws, nieces and nephews. Elroy is now reunited with loved ones that preceded him in death, wife, Lorraine; daughter, Judy Wanek; parents, William and Agnes Wanek; brothers, Clayton and Rheim Wanek, sister, Rose Wanek; as well as many in-laws and friends.
Elroy was born in Duluth, MN, on December 19th, 1925 and lived in the Foxboro area where he remained until April of 2011, when he moved to the Golden Living Center of Superior, WI, until his death.
He was a jokester, full of the dickens, had a killer smile, a mischievous twinkle in his eye and always had a story to tell, that would make people smile. He has left wonderful memories behind in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him and through all of them, he will live on. Elroy will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Living Center for their care and compassion.
A visitation for Elroy will begin at 10 until the 11a.m. memorial service, Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 5821 John Avenue, Superior. Pastor Gary Garnatz will officiate. It will be a time for all to celebrate and honor Elroy's life.
Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19th Street, Superior, is assisting the family with arrangements.
