Esther D. Johnson-Krause, 93, of Superior, died Friday August 22, 2025, at New Perspective Senior Living in Superior.

Esther was born on February 8, 1932, the daughter of Peter and Delia (Abrahamson) Keup.

Esther married Myron Johnson, Jr. in 1950, and together they raised their four children until his passing in 1978. She later worked at Superior Memorial Hospital. Esther met Bernard Krause, with whom she shared a love of dancing and many years of traveling together before marrying in 2000. Esther also enjoyed gardening and shopping. Above all, family meant everything to her, and she cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Myron; second husband, Bernard Krause; sons, Jerry and Dennis Johnson; sister, Rosie Hietala; and brothers, Charlie, Lester, Gene, and Floyd Keup.

Esther is survived by her son, Leonard (Lynn) Johnson of Superior; daughter, Karen (Michael) Meronek of Bend, OR; stepchildren, Jerry (Pepe) Krause and Judy (Tony) Kuznia; sisters, Irene (Dick) Eskelson, Joyce (Jim) Follis, Loren (Denise) Keup, and Ben (Gail) Keup; her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 26th from 10:00a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Downs Life Celebration Center, 1902 N 34th St. Private family interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Duluth.
