Eugene 'Gene' H. Korte, 77, of Duluth, died Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at his residence surrounded by family.

Gene was born in Hastings, MN on April 7, 1946, the son of Victor and Dorothy (Haggman) Korte. He married Barbara Semborski on Aug. 30, 1969, and they celebrated 54 years of marriage.

Gene began working as a master barber and then went on to work for Pitney-Bowes for 32 years as a service rep. He later worked as salesman for Miller Hill Chrysler Jeep Subaru and then was the head of dealer trades for Duluth Dodge. He most recently worked as a groundskeeper for 13 years for Greenview Inc.

He was an excellent guitar player and was a part of many bands in his younger years. He also enjoyed working on racecars with his sons.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Justin; and brother, Robert.

Gene is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, Chris Korte and Mark Korte both of Duluth; and many extended family.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 26th from 11:00 a.m. until the Noon Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 4901 E Superior St., Duluth MN 55804.
