Eunice B. Kosta, 87, of Eveleth, formerly Superior, died peacefully in the arms of her son, David, Saturday, July 9, 2016 at David's residence in Eveleth.

Eunice was born in Superior on March, 24, 1929, the daughter of Carl and Laura (Larsen) Strand.

She was an LPN at St. Mary's in Duluth before working at Virginia Regional Hospital and Convalescent Center.

Eunice was a member of Virginia Gospel Church since 1974 and previously of Apostolic Faith Assembly in Superior.

She enjoyed crocheting, playing piano, baking, and puzzles. She was an avid MN Twins fan and most of all, she enjoyed being with her family.

Preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; grandchildren, Todd and Jody Kosta; and sisters, Claudia Anderson and Becky McGraw.

Survivors include her daughters, Kathy (Dennis) Witkus of Superior, Ellen (Richard) Kilpela of Cynthiana, KY, Karen (Joe) Dossey of Phoenix, AZ, and Allyson (Brad) Eastman of Zim, MN; sons, David (Carol) Kosta of Eveleth, Dennis (Jerris) Kosta of Martin, TN, and Richard (Pamela) Kosta of Britt, MN; 20 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren; sisters, Rhoda Jones of Las Vegas and Lois McDonald of Superior; sister-in-law, Pearl Benney of Duluth; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19th Street, Superior, and will resume at 10 until the 11 a.m. service on Thursday at Darrow Road Wesleyan Church, Superior. Officiating is her son, Pastor David Kosta.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Scott Kilpela, Matthew Kilpela, Jonathan Witkus, Benjamin Eastman, and Noah Kosta; and great-grandson, C.J. Smith.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.
