Evelyn B.
Hagen
March 29, 1931 – March 10, 2026
Evelyn B. Hagen, 94, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
Evelyn was born on March 29, 1931, at their home in Danbury, Wisconsin, to Luella (Reese) and Clarence Guetschow. She graduated from Central High School in 1948.
Evelyn met Robert Hagen at Bethel Lutheran Church in Superior, and they were married on August 20, 1949, at Bethel. They were blessed with a long and happy life together. They enjoyed their large family and all the little ones that came along over the years, sometimes being blessed with up to 2-4 grandchildren or great grandchildren born in the same year. They were married for 53 years until Bob's death in 2003.
Evelyn was a longtime member of Bethel Lutheran Church, where she was very active in the choir and in BLCW over the years. She worked outside the home for a short time but primarily dedicated herself to caring for her home and raising her children. She took great pride in keeping her flower gardens beautiful and enjoyed sewing, knitting, baking, and crocheting. Evelyn was especially proud that she crocheted blankets for each of her grandchildren, making her final blanket for her great-great granddaughter, whose name is also Evelyn.
She was a huge Milwaukee Brewers fan, enjoyed playing cards, and was a master puzzle solver—known as a "dissectologist." Evelyn was passionate about spending time with her large family, whether at her home or at the family cabin in Danbury, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father in-law, Marie (Berg) and Albin Hagen; her husband, Robert; and her sister-in-law, Joyce Guetschow.
Evelyn is survived by her children: Julee (Gary) Hunter, Neil (Patricia) Hagen, Gerald (Mary) Hagen, Janice (Colin) Mattson, Jodi (Joseph) Montano, and Michael (Judy) Hagen; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one step great-great-grandchild; her brother, Walter Guetschow; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

We would also like to thank our mother's medical team for the care and support they gave her over the years. Because of all of you, we were able to have her with us for many years.
