Obituary

Evelyn "Evie" Thatcher, 88, lifelong resident of Superior, died on Saturday, July 20, 2013 in Waconia, Minn. as a result of complications following surgery.

Evelyn was born in July of 1924 the daughter of William F. and Esther Zank. She married William Floyd Thatcher on May 23, 1952 and together the celebrated 61 years of a faith filled marriage.

She worked at Goldfines in the office. She was active in the Blaine School PTA and also volunteered tutoring reading at Central Jr. High School.

Evie is survived by her husband, William "Bill"; Children, Michelle Brown, Mark (Julie) Thatcher, Becky (Gary) Johnson and Marybeth (Matt) Nicklaus; grandchildren, Julie (Dave) Kuharski, David, Erica, Vanessa, Amanda and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Keith, Emelia, Sadie, Adam, Joseph Karysa and Natalie. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Rindal; sisters-in-law, Marlene Zank, Rose Zank; and many favorite nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Adam; sisters, Ruth, Ellenore, Marion, Gertrude and Dorothy; and brothers, Daniel, Ralph, David, Gerald and Donald.

Evelyn believed the Holy Bible to be the true Word of God. She witnessed and shared her belief with many Jr. High Sunday School students at Christ Lutheran Church in Superior during the 70's and 80's for twenty years. She taught the young people how they could find their worth. She also witnessed and shared her faith during weekly Bible reading visits with many residents at St. Francis Home in Billings Park from 1991 to 2000. She felt very blessed for the privilege and opportunity to serve her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Evie was very grateful for all the happy precious times she shared with her loving family and friends in her lifetime.

Her visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service on Thurs. July 25th at Hope Congregational Church with Rev. Michael Casperson officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th St. and Ogden Ave., is assisting the family with arrangements.
