Everett F. Geitner, 88 of Superior, died Friday, July 15, 2011 at Essentia Health – St. Mary's in Duluth.
Everett was born in Sturgeon Bay, Wis. on Mar. 17, 1923 the son of Mary (Pichette) and Frank Geitner.
He was a diesel engineer on the great lakes fleet and harbor tugs for many years and he was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ann and a daughter, Kathleen Johnson.
Everett is survived by his children, Rosemary (Richard) Zowin of Elk River, Minn., Ronald (Janet) Geitner of Pueblo West, Colo., Sharon (Richard) Hoch of Superior, Sandra (Kermit) Frazier of Superior, Gary Geitner of St. Paul Park, Minn., Steven (Robin) Geitner of Hudson, Wis., Cynthia (Tim) Hangartner of Eau Claire and Paul (Stephanie) Geitner of Superior; a son-in-law, David Johnson of Superior; sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, Clarence; four sisters, Rose, Helen, Ceal and Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.
A prayer service will be held on Tues. July 19th at 5 p.m. followed by a visitation until 7 p.m. at Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th St. and Ogden Ave. Visitation will resume on Wed. July 20 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Cathedral of Christ the King with Rev. Fr. Andrew P. Ricci as celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
