Fay Dorothy Schold, 88, a lifelong Superior, Wis. resident died Mon., Feb. 15, 2010 in the Middle River Health & Rehabilitation Center.
She was a 1939 graduate of Superior East High School and then attended Superior State College for one year.
In 1946 she was united in marriage to Alfred Edward Schold. He preceded her in death on Aug. 7, 1991.
She was employed by Wisconsin Bell Telephone Co. as a telephone operator and retired in Aug. of 1977 as a supervisor.
Fay's memberships included Pilgrim Lutheran Church and the Telephone Pioneers of America. For many years she was an active member of a Bunko Group.
In 1992 she was one of the first two women inducted in to the Superior Bowling Hall of Fame. For many years she had been the secretary/treasurer for the Women's Bowling Association. She was an avid bowler on several leagues within the community.
Fay is lovingly remembered by her children and their spouses, Susanne "Susie" and Michael Rivord of South Range, Wis., Gary W. and Vicky Schold of Superior, and Randy J. and Bette Schold of Minneapolis, Minn.; nine grandchildren, Derek and Lindsey Schold and Joe (Lisa) Seacotte of Superior, Dr. Nicole (Ben) Seacotte-Anderson of Duluth, Minn., Kristi (Sabino) Gomez of Sahuarita, Ariz., Ben (Missy) Schold, Nancy Mortorano and Tracy Schold of Minneapolis, and Melissa (Walker) Galloway of Casper, Wyo.; many great-grandchildren; a sister, Dona Finckler of Sebring, Fla. and Solon Springs, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband she was also preceded in death her parents, Helen G. (Severson) and Walter Rickell and a granddaughter, Lori Michelle Seacotte on Mar. 17, 1973.
Visitation will be in Downs Funeral Home, corner of Ogden Ave., and 19th St. on Fri., Feb. 19th from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service with Rev. Dr. Mark Hillmer, pastor of Pilgrim Lutheran Church officiating. Committal prayers will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Derek, Lindsey, Joe, Nicole, Kristi, Tracy and Melissa.
If desired, memorials in Fay's name may be made to the American Cancer Society or Pilgrim Lutheran Church.
