Floyd "Bob" "Duff" R. Udeen, 81, of Amnicon Lake passed away Friday, May 30, 2014 at Essentia Health Surrounded by his family, following a lengthy illness.
Floyd was born in Superior on June 13, 1932 to Floyd E. and Jeanette Udeen.
He graduated from Superior Central High School in 1950 and he served his country from 1954-1956 enlisting in the Army.
He married Shirley Stolzman on April 3, 1954 and they celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Floyd and his brother Herb founded Udeen Bros. Trucking in 1957. After turning it over to his son's it became Udeen Excavating in 1996 and he worked until the age of 76.
He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Operators Engineering Local 139 and the NRA. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed sitting for hours telling stories.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Shirley; two sons, Donald of Amnicon Lake and Randy (Sandy) of Amnicon Lake; a daughter, Lori (Mark) Nollet of South Range; nine grandchildren, Jonathon Udeen, Christopher Chruscielski, Marilyn Udeen, Eric Udeen, Chelsea Rasmussen, Branden Nollet, Steven Udeen, Andy Udeen, and Donald Udeen, Jr.; and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Herbert (Joyce) Udeen; and two grandsons, Peter and Joshua Udeen.
Visitation will be on Wed. June 4 from 10am until the 11am funeral service at Bethel Lutheran Church. Rev. Gary Garnatz will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion post #435.
Pallbearers will be his 6 grandsons, Jon, Christopher (who will be represented by his son Clayton Chruscielski), Eric, Branden, Steven, and Andy. Honorary Pallbearers will be Marilyn, Chelsea, and Donald, Jr.
The family would like to thank the staff at Essentia Health and Middle River Health Facility for their care and support for Floyd.
Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th and Ogden, is assisting the family with arrangements.
