Frances Anunti, 89, passed away November 13, 2021. She was born in Drummond, Wisconsin on May 2, 1932, and moved to Superior, Wisconsin as a child. Here she met and married the love of her life, John A. Anunti and together they raised two children, John and Debra.

Always of service to others, Frances became a volunteer Brownie and Girl Scout leader in addition to being a devoted homemaker. Frances loved animals and later her and John worked together offering their services to the Duluth Zoo and Douglas County Humane Society. She had several dogs and cats which she loved dearly. She also enjoyed watching the hummingbirds dart from flower to flower at her home. Frances had a lifelong interest in preserving nature.

Frances had many interests including painting, knitting, cooking, watching old westerns on tv, playing hearts and more.

She loved spending time with family and friends. Frances especially enjoyed the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. She always prepared delicious meals for those holidays and was sure to send out Christmas cards early to all her friends and family.

In 1995, Frances and John moved to Concord, California to be near their children and grandchildren. Frances then began working for the Contra Costa School District where she continued to work until poor health forced her retirement at age 88.

She is preceded in death by her husband John A. Anunti. She is survived by her sister, Virginia, her two children John and Debra, as well as several grandchildren.

Frances was loving, generous and upbeat. She especially enjoyed being a grandma. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Superior.

Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Friday, November 26, 2021, at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior.
