Francis E. "Joe" Glaus, 81, of Superior, passed away peacefully at his residence, with loved ones by his side, Saturday, November 30, 2013, of prostate cancer.
He was born September 27, 1932 in Ellsworth, WI, son of Edward and Mary (Fellenz) Glaus. He moved to Superior in 1950.
Joe proudly served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. While in the Army, Joe earned the distinction of sharpshooter.
He retired from Superior Auto Parts, where many came to know him as a friend.
Some of his interests included gardening, cooking, grilling and he was a self-taught master woodworker, making many beautiful items.
He and his second wife, Lynette, traveled across America in a 5th wheel RV before settling in Las Cruces, NM, for 13 years, before returning to Superior due to illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Pauline VanBuren; and eldest daughter, Kathy Davidhizar.
Survivors include his second wife, Lynette Brandt Glaus; children, Paul (Teresa) Glaus, San Bernadino, CA, Jeff (Lisa) Glaus, Superior, Debra (Scott Krallman) Denney, Post Falls, Idaho, Laura (David) Solberg, Superior, and Michael (Corinne) Glaus, Hillsboro, MO; step-children, Bud (Linda) Brandt, Superior, Mary (Charlie) Newman, Coon Rapids, MN, Bill (Tammie) Brandt, Hermantown, MN, Bobbie (Tim) Nikstad, Marathon, WI, Jill (Roger) Dillon, Wisconsin Rapids, WI, and Patti (Mark) Johnson, Superior; aunt, Regina Jahnke, Plum City, WI; and many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and cousins.
Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. service, Friday, December 6, 2013 at Darrow Road Wesleyan Church, Superior, with Pastor Mark A. Holmes officiating.
A private committal service will be at St. Williams Cemetery, at a later date.
Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, is assisting the family with arrangements.
The family is especially grateful to Dr. Sande, Essentia Health Home Hospice, and the many friends who visited them and remembered them in their time of need.
