Frank John Koenen, 84, of South Range, died Thursday, December 22, 2016, at his residence.
He was born in South Range on December 28, 1931, the son of Harm and Jessie Koenen.
Frank was a carpenter at Lakehead Contractors, Inc. and J.R. Jensen Construction; and was a member of the Carpenters Local #361 for over 50 years. He could fix just about anything, especially any mechanical problem. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. During the holiday season, he would cut balsam boughs for Christmas wreaths.
Most of all he loved being with his family and friends. Whether it be at the family cabin in Deer Lake or at his home drinking coffee and playing cribbage. Yes, his home was where everyone gathered to drink coffee and share time together.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Therys; parents; brothers, Hank, Bill, and Lew; and sisters, Jessie, Emily, Edith, and Esther.
Frank is survived by his daughters, Tammy (Paul) Musser, Waterloo, WI, Brenda (Brent) Schwartz, Shakopee, MN, Sandra Carlson, Superior, and Julie Ann Zakowitz, South Range; son, Timothy (Michelle) Koenen, South Range; grandchildren, Katie Musser, Eric Musser, James Schwartz, Karen Schwartz, Matthew Carlson, Jessica Carlson, Nicholas Zakowitz, Chad Zakowitz, Brandon Dodge, Samantha Dodge, Patrick Koenen, and Nicole Koenen; great-grandchildren, Corbin Zakowitz, Emily Zakowitz, Jonathan Zakowitz, Lillian Zakowitz, Carson Borg Dodge, and Aiden Maki; and several nieces and nephews.
