Frank August Westman, 92, of Solon Springs, formerly of Superior, died Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.

He was born August 1, 1932, at Sunny Side in Hinckley Township, Minnesota, son of Pearl (Sanford) and August Westman.

Frank proudly served his country in Korea with the U.S. Army and was a recipient of the Purple Heart Award.

His work history began as a truck driver in Minneapolis, then with his brother at Westman Auto Body, then as an auto body repair technician/estimator with Larson Chevrolet.

Some of his interests included golfing, bowling, building and flying remote control model airplanes, buying and restoring a Pontiac Trans Am with his daughter Cheryl, fishing at Indiaonta Resort in Canada with Clarence and Sadie Benson, and acquiring his private pilot's license.

Frank had a special bond with his daughter who lovingly cared for him in his later years. He had an extraordinary gift of making friends wherever he went, and he treasured the ones he had like family. He also loved his pets, Niven and Howie, as well as watching the wildlife around him.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife of 55years, Lois (Benson); and his brother, Bert.

Survivors include his daughter, Cheryl Westman, of Solon Springs; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service for close friends and family will be held Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.

Following the service a gathering is planned at Shamrock Pizza at 3:00p.m., Franks's favorite pizza place.
