Fred J. Kivisto's Obituary
Fred J. Kivisto, 82, of Iron River, died Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth.
Fred was born to Fred 'Fritz' and Ida Kivisto on Aug. 24, 1933 in Iron River.
After growing up and graduating High School in Iron River he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for four years form Feb. 1952-1956. After leaving the Air Force he started working with Western Electric which is part of AT&T. He traveled all over the country for work. After a 30 year career he retired and moved back to Iron River.
Fred enjoyed hunting and golfing and enjoyed watching the chickadees.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bud and sister, Sharron; and a niece and nephew.
Fred is survived by his sisters, Rosemary Armbruster of Iron River and Karla (Harold) Roberts of Mason, WI; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and cousins.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at Iron River City Cemetery.
Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th St. and Ogden Ave. is assisting the family with arrangements.
