Obituary

Gary L. Sherman, 68, of Superior, died Monday, August 25, 2014 at his residence.

Gary was born on May 18, 1946 in Yakima, Wash., the son of William and Madelyn Sherman.

He was a professor of Psychology at the University of Wisconsin Superior.

Gary was a member of the American Bowling Conference, was an avid golfer and a fanatic of all sports. He enjoyed going for coffee at the Caribou Coffee House and he always looked forward to the 4th of July celebrations.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Gary is survived by his wife of 50 years, Shirley; two daughters, Kimberly (Matthew) Bennett and Sandra (David) Cheslak both of Superior; grandchildren Kathryn (Brian) Newman and Jason Cheslak both of Superior; brothers, Ronald (Diane) Sherman of Lacey, Wash. and Brad (Nancy) Sherman of Seattle, Wash.; sister, Pam (Bob) Zimmerman of Alberta Canada; sister and brother in law, Carol (Gene) Horner of Selah, Wash; many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Toby.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, Sept. 5, from 5-7pm at Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th St. and Ogden Ave.
