Gary F. Stepan, 57, of Superior, died Saturday June 4, 2016 at Solvay Hospice House after a long battle with cancer.

Gary was born in Duluth on Aug. 13, 1958 the son of Frank and Dolores (Chudecke) Stepan.

He graduated from Superior High School with the class of 1976. After high school he attended UWS, WITI and East Texas University for Accounting.

Gary was a member of the Thaddeus Kosciuszko Fraternal Aid Society (Polish Club). He was an avid Wisconsin Sports fan. He also enjoyed going fishing and spending time in Port Wing, WI.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Gary is survived by his father, Frank; sister, Terri (Bill) Cranmer of Tempe, AZ; and a brother Allan (Wendy Johnson) Stepan of Superior.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm until the 6:00 pm memorial service on Wed. June 8th at Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th St. and Ogden Ave in Superior. Rev. Fr. Andrew P. Ricci of Cathedral of Christ the King Church will officiate. Interment will be in St. Williams Cemetery at a later date.

If desired, memorials in Gary's name may be made to Essentia-St. Mary's Hospice or to the Solvay Hospice House.
