Obituary

George Victor Kosobuski, 82, of Superior, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2011 at the Golden Living Center.

George was born in Superior on July 1, 1928 the son of Frank and Gerarda Kosobuski.

He graduated from Cathedral High School. He served his country in the Korean War Conflict as a member of the U.S. Army, 790th QM CO, and was honorably discharged in 1952. He was a longtime member of the VFW Post 847 and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

George had worked for Burlington Northern Railroad and then Superior Beverages where he was a salesman/driver for 35years before retiring in 1991.

He was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener and passed these interests down to his sons and grandsons. He enjoyed almost every sport; especially football and seeing his beloved Green Bay Packers win one more Super Bowl. He rarely missed any sporting event his children or grandchildren were involved until health problems prevented him from attending them. He greeted everyone he met with a handshake and loved God, his family and country.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Thomas and Frank; a sister, Louise Downs; and a granddaughter, Alyssa Kosobuski.

George is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mavis (Renquist); six children, DeLayna "Dede" (Mike) Herrick, Scott (Anna), Shari, Joseph, Bryan (Kristie) and Nicholas (Carie); eleven grandchildren, Michael (Jennifer), Ashley (Darrick) Perlick, Britney and Shane Herrick, Lucas and Jonah Kosobuski, Joel and Morgan Anderson and
Alexandrea, Austin and Adreana Kosobuski; four great-grandchildren, his newest great-grandson was born the same day George passed away; and a brother Richard.

Funeral services will be held on Sat. June 4, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 521 Upham Road, Duluth. Visitation will begin one hour prior. Interment will be in Veterans Park at Greenwood Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post No. 435.

He was greatly loved and will be missed by his family and friends. His family thanks the staff at Golden Living Center and St. Luke's Hospice for the loving care they provided in his final days.
