Obituary

George D. Novak, 78, of Superior, died Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Essentia Health Miller Dwan in Duluth.

George was born in Superior on June 14, 1943. He graduated from Superior Central High School with the class of 1961. He served his country in the US Army and was stationed in Germany for 26 months.

He married Sandra (Lovvik) Mead on May 28, 1983, and they celebrated 38 years of marriage. They enjoyed traveling in their RV, trips to Mexico and Hawaii, and spending time at their lake property.

He had worked as a Technician for the local phone company for many years. George was a 'Jack of all trades' and could build or fix anything. He loved music, especially Elvis. He performed in local bands, most recently the Chapperals.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Carr and grandparents, John and Sophia Novak.

George is survived by his wife, Sandy; stepchildren, Keli Casey of Superior, Kimberli Mead of Superior, and Kristin (Scott) Glendenning of Esko; grandchildren, Emily, Madeline, and Claire Casey and Ryan and Haley Glendenning.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 2 nd from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and resume on Thursday, March 3 rd from 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19 th St. Superior, with Fr. Andrew Ricci as officiant.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435. Pallbearers will be his 5 grandchildren and Brian Loveless.
