Schuster
February 15, 1930 – May 8, 2020
George E. Schuster, 90, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2020, after his third battle with cancer, in Duluth, MN, at Solvay Hospice House.
He was born February 15, 1930 to George and Anna (Silber) Schuster, in Superior, WI.
George attended school in Superior and Hawthorne, WI. After school he joined the Army Air Corps. After three years of service, he as discharged with the rank of Sergeant.
On March 3, 1951, George married the love of his life, Betty Sutherland. They celebrated 63 years of marriage before her death in 2014.
His work history included the railroad and the Superior Fire Department, where he retired as a Captain in 1985.
George was an extremely hard worker, at times working multiple jobs to provide for his family. He loved the outdoors and all Wisconsin Sports, especially the Green Bay Packers. George and Betty loved taking road trips together, they traveled all over the U.S. and have the pictures to document it all. One of George's greatest joys was watching his great-granddaughter's play sports. He never missed a game or tournament, no matter how far away it was. He was proud to see his 90 th birthday and his first great-great-grandson. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Preceding George in death is his wife, his parents, and infant brother Ralph and two sisters, Violet and Shirley.
George is survived by his son, James E. Schuster, Lake Nebagamon, WI; two grandsons, James J. Schuster, Superior, WI and Kyle M. (Melissa) Schuster, Foxboro, WI; three great-granddaughters, Tailor Schuster, Kayleigh (Aaron) Johnson, and Payton Schuster, all of Superior; a great-great-grandson, Brantley Johnson; and a sister, Florence, of Burke, VA.
Due to Covid-19, a private family service will be held at Downs Funeral Home, burial will be at Parkview Cemetery, Hawthorne, WI.
The family would like to send our sincere thanks and gratitude to all that cared for George. Especially Jeanne, Holly, and all the Solvay Hospice House Staff. Your love and care for George during this time was irreplaceable and we are so grateful to you.
