Gerald 'Jerry' Frank Plummer, 78, of Superior, passed away January 9, 2016 with his family by his side at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth.
Jerry was born in Superior on March 25, 1937 the son of Frank & LaVerne Plummer. He graduated from Central High School with the class of 1955.
Jerry married the former Carol Balduc in Duluth on November 3, 1956. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage together.
He worked for the Great Northern/Burlington Northern Railroad for 44 years until his retirement in 1999. Jerry and his wife Carol owned the former Devil's Inn Tavern in the 70's. Jerry was a charter member of the Superior Speedway where he raced car number 35 from the late 50's through the early 70's. Jerry was inducted into the Superior Speedway Hall of Fame in 2002 and enjoyed going to the races with his family and friends.
Jerry enjoyed gardening with his friend Norm, hunting, and fishing on his boat Plum Crazy. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Scott Buttrick.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Carol; four children, Gerald (Lori) Plummer, Jr., Linnae (Mark) Currie, Penny (Scott) Wick, and Craig (Lynn) Plummer; seven grandchildren, Joshua (Heather) Plummer, Jamie (Scot Pittsley) Buttrick, Matthew Buttrick, Danielle Wick, Michael (Alayna Moe) Plummer, Kyia Plummer and Felicia Schuman; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Fri. Jan 15 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th St. and Ogden Ave. Lay Minister Gary Banker will officiate. A celebration of life will follow service at Borders Sports Bar & Grill, 3028 E Highway 105, Superior, WI 54880.
