Gerald (Jerry) A. Johnson, 79, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 30 ^th , 2016.

He was born May 29 ^th , 1937 in Superior, WI, to Violet and Eugene Johnson.

In his younger years Jerry loved to hunt and fish.  In his later years he loved spending time with 'Harriet', his beloved metal detector.

Jerry was a lifelong Superior resident and was employed by the Huron, then LaFarge Cement Company for over 40 years.

Jerry married the love of his life Janice Johnson May 19 ^th , 1954.  They celebrated 55 years of marriage until her passing in 2009.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Janice; parents, Eugene and Violet (Letsos); son, Timothy Johnson; sister, Susan Noack;special friend, Margaret Soderberg; grandparents; and beloved pets, Putts, Jasper, and Jerzee.

Jerry is lovingly remembered by his children, Debra Bachand, Jeff Johnson, Kelly Clana, Wade (Barb) Johnson, Diane (Roger Yeazle) VanDamme, Clayton Johnson, Shannon (Joe) Hogan; siblings, Betty Amys, Sharon Sleeman, Mary Forstrum, Kathryn Johnson, and Michael Johnson; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Jerry's three sons, Jeff, Wade, and Clayton Johnson; sons-in-law, Joe Hogan and Roger Yeazle; and grandson, Cody VanDamme.

Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Downs Funeral Home.  Visitation one hour prior.  Reverend Michelle Rowell, pastor of Concordia Lutheran Church will be officiating.  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
