Gerald D. "Jerry" or "Chewy" Kirkwood, 66, of Superior, died Thursday, April 30, 2015, at his residence.
He was born June 28, 1948, in Superior, son of James "Corky" and Delores (Wallin) Kirkwood.
On March 13, 1971, in Superior, Gerald D. Kirkwood and Patricia Nelson were united in marriage.
Jerry worked as a painter for Lakehead Painting Company, and retired after 26 years of service.
He was a member of the Painters Union, Local # 106.
Some of his interests included collecting cast iron toys and enjoying classic cars, however; his greatest interest was his family, and he was known as the World's Greatest Grandpa.
Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Jerry Jay Kirkwood; brother, Dickie Kirkwood; sisters, Donna Ojala and Cindy Engstrom; mother-in-law, Helen Nelson; father-in-law, Donald Nelson; brothers-in-law, Michael and Rick Nelson; son-in-law, Patrick Daly; and nephew, Jason Kirkwood.
Survivors include his wife of over 44 years, Patricia "Patti" Kirkwood; daughters, Joy Daly, Superior, Angel (Brian) Waters, Solon Springs, and Kerri (Steve) Bushman, Superior; grandchildren, Kayla Daly, Devon Daly, Mahlea Waters and Keagan Lundberg; sisters, Debbie (Merrill) Gerding, Superior, Kim Bunnell, Superior, and Gina (Joe) Rochon, Solon Springs; brother, James Kirkwood, Superior; and many special nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. service, Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, with Pastor Steve Kelleher officiating.
Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.
Pallbearers will be Brian Waters, Jimmy Kirkwood, Darcell Williams, Chase Kirkwood, Devon Daly and Steve Bushman.
