Gerald K. "Jerry" Palmer, 79, of Superior, died peacefully Wednesday, November 05, 2014, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.
He was born July 6, 1935, in Superior, son of John and Leona (Berg) Palmer.
Jerry had served with the Wisconsin National Guard.
He worked over 35 years as a firefighter with the Superior Fire Department, and retired as assistant chief.
He enjoyed bowling and golfing and scored a hole-in-one on two occasions at the Nemadji Golf Course.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Carla J.Palmer in 2003; and daughter, Terri L. Torguson in 2011.
Survivors include his daughter, Vicki (James) Sheahan; grandchildren, Danielle (Scott) Heier, Chris Sheahan, Mardi (Pat) Shaul and Nicole Torguson; great-grandchildren, Gracie, Lauren and Jacob Heier, and Cora and Austin Shaul; son-in-law, Jeff Torguson; sisters, Kathy (Jim) Snow, Jeanyn Deroo and Judy (George) Chicras; brothers, Don and Rick (Peggy) Palmer; and several nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be from noon until the 1 p.m. service Monday, November 10, 2014, at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, with Reverend Ronald Becklund officiating.
Committal prayers will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Essentia Health-St. Mary's Hospice.
