Gertrude Caroline Davis, 91, of Berg Park in the Town of Amnicon went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 15, 2009.
Gertrude was born September 12, 1918, to Nels and Ida Satter in the town of Amnicon and was a life long area resident. She grew up in Berg Park near Middle River.
She enjoyed sewing quilts, hosting meetings for the Dorcas Circle, writing poems and stories, baking, volunteering her time and spending time with family and friends. Her greatest joys were her only daughter Shirley and her two grandchildren Michael and Kristen.
In her early years, Gertrude worked at the Middle River San after graduating from Central High School. She was a teller at NBC bank and at that time she met Paul Henry Davis from Lakeside. They were married in August of 1947. They had one daughter, Shirley. They were life long residents of Berg Park where they lived along the Satter Creek named after her parents. She and Paul enjoyed square dancing in their early years . In later years they would meet with friends and dance at the local senior centers.
Gertrude, a historian of Berg Park, was well known for writing the book "Berg Park, The Early Years". The book is still in demand and can be found at the Superior Library.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Poplar and its Dorcas Circle; Retired Senior Volunteer Program(RSVP) for over twenty years; Girl Scout Leader; The Sunshiners Club and the Amnicon Senior
Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents Nels and Ida Satter, husband Paul, brother Lee and sister Clara Danielson.
Gertrude is survived by a daughter; Shirley Ann (Tom) Milchesky of Superior: Grandchildren Michael and Kristen Milchesky both of Superior, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday September 24, 2009, at 11:00 in Peace Lutheran Church in Poplar, with Rev Greg Gullicksrud officaiting. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the Church.
Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
