Gladys D. Eastman, 91, of Superior, died Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Villa-Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center, Superior.

She was born January 6, 1918 in Bemidji, Minnesota, daughter of Hazel (DuVal) and William Avery.

Gladys was a member and former Sunday school teacher of Central Assembly of God, Superior.

She enjoyed reading, gospel music, visiting with family and friends and she especially loved the time spent with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Harrison Eastman in 1993; sons, Dennis Eastman and Timothy Eastman; daughters, Lorraine Eastman and Laura McDonald; and sister, Ruth Evelyn Kuhlmey.

Survivors include 4 sons, Kenneth (Hilda) Eastman, Edmeston, NY, Harold (Judy) Eastman, Ashland, WI, Daniel (Debbie) Eastman, Superior, and Robert (Trina) Eastman, Superior; 4 daughters, Harriet (James) Barnard, Superior, Carol (Paul) Barnard, Superior, Barbara (Jon) Sather, Duluth, and Gladys "Dolly" (Mike Sorchych) Noffsinger, Minong, WI; over 120 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Ellora (Tom) Hart, Canada, and Marie Christianson, Duluth; brother, William Avery, Oregon; daughter-in-law, Roberta Eastman, Roberts, WI; and several nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, September 21, 2009 at Central Assembly of God, Superior, and will resume at 10 until the 11 a.m. service Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at the church. Reverend Tom Miller and Reverend Paul Anderson will co-officiate.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.

Active pallbearers will be David Eastman, Dale Barnard, Matt Barnard, Ryan Sather, Robert Eastman Jr., and Jason Bruzek. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, is assisting the family with arrangements.
