Obituary

Glen Philip Carlson, 77, of Superior passed away Monday, November 8, 2010 at his residence.

Glen was born in Superior on January 9, 1933 the son of Dorothy (Higgins) and Ludwig Carlson.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air force serving during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1956. He then served in the reserves until 1959.

Glen married the former Mila Swang on August 8, 1959 in Superior.

He worked for US Steel in the Coke Operations for 30 years. After he retired he worked for Benson cabinets and at UWS as a handyman. Glen was also an auto mechanic in his own garage. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local #1028, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the VFW.

He was an avid bowler, bowling in many local leagues. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed spending as much time as he could at their lake home on Webb Lake.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Lyman "Lummy" Carlson; and his best friend Eugene "Leroy" Pastoret.

He is survived by his wife of 51years, Mila; three daughters, Vicki (Jeff) Anderson of Brainerd, Minn., Nancy (Dennis) Ross of Proctor, Minn. and Tammy (Dave) Anderson of Superior; grandchildren, Steven and Troy Anderson of Brainerd, Andy (Danielle) Hudacek of Superior, DJ (Stephanie Tharp) Ross of Superior, Jordan, Kailey and Noah Buhr and Jesse, Chase, Luc and Emily Anderson all of Superior; great-grandchildren Walker Hudacek and Sydney Plasch; brothers and sister, Ludwig (Ruie) Carlson, Jr. Caroline (Milon) Kuhlman and Ronnie Carlson all of Superior; sisters-in-law, Laura Carlson of Superior, Viola Mack of Foxboro and Gloria Bielke of Minneapolis; brother-in-law, Albert Swang of Yukon, Okla.; special niece Dianne James of Foxboro; and many nieces and nephews.

His visitation will be on Thurs. Nov. 11, from 4-7 p.m. at Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th St. and Ogden Ave. Visitation will resume Fri. Nov. 12, from 11 a.m. until the noon funeral service at North Bay Community Church, 1316 E. 5th St., with Pastor Curt Vanderstelt as officiant. Military Honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, DJ, Andy, Steven, Troy, Noah and Luc.
