Gwen A. Kahn, 56, of Superior, died Wednesday, April 6, 2022, surrounded by her family at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Gwen was born on July 28, 1965, the daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Reisinger) Patnaude.

She worked for St. Louis County. She was a member of the Elk's Lodge, Moose Lodge and longtime season ticket holder to UMD Bulldogs Hockey.

Gwen was very active in sports including broomball, softball, hockey, and playing pool. She also loved to watch sports and spend time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas and husband Stan, whom she enjoyed 25 years with.

Gwen is survived by her daughters, EmilyJane (JakePatrick) Coughlin of Superior, Kayla Grills of Superior; mother, Margaret Patnaude of Duluth; grandchildren, Brayden, Wyatt, and Myles; sisters, Laura Young of Superior and Mary (Darian Pionk) Patnaude of Duluth; brother, David (Paulette) Patnaude of Duluth; father of her children, Dennis Grills of Superior; and many extended family.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 12 ^th from 5:00 – 7:00p.m. at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19 ^th St. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, April 13 ^th from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Cathedral of Christ the King Church, 1111 Belknap St. with Fr. Andrew Ricci as Celebrant. Burial will be in Oneota Cemetery.

A Celebration of Gwen's life will follow at the Superior Tavern, 1224 Tower Ave. from 2:00 – 4:00p.m.
