Obituary

Harriet M. Rakitnichan 83, of Superior died Monday December 12, 2011 in Essentia-St. Marys in Duluth.

She was born in Duluth on April 24, 1928 to Almina ( Houghtaling) and Henry Salby and was a longtime Superior area resident

Her work history includes The Glassblock in Duluth, the Ponderossa and Bonanza restaurants and was currently still working as a hostess at Grizzly's.

Harriet was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1986 and a son John Jr. in 1965.

She is survived by a son, Daniel (Laura) Rakitnichan of Plymouth Mn.; two daughters, Kathleen (Jeffrey) Plesko of Melbourne Fl., and Barbara (Steven) Anderson of Lake Nebagamon; her grandchildren, Brad Plesko, Amy (Tim) Jacques, Jill (Thomas Brown) Anderson and Eric (Beka) Anderson; great-grandchildren, Austin, Madison and Conner; a brother, Henry (Marcella) Salby of Alanta Ga.; and a sister, Mary Hepfer of Inverness Fl.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Dec. 16 at 11:00 in Holy Assumption Catholic Church with Rev. Ronald Olson as celebrant. Visitation will from 5-7:00 on Thursday in the Downs Funeral Home, 19th & Ogden, and one hour prior to the Mass on Friday in the Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
