Henry A. 'Hank' Niemann, Jr., 78, of Foxboro, died of heart failure on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at his residence, in the loving care of his girlfriend Kathy Mains, her family, and Essentia Hospice.
Hank was born on Aug. 23, 1939 in Brighton, WI the son of Henry and Lorraine Niemann.
Hank served his country enlisting in the US Army and served overseas tours of duty in Vietnam, Korea, and Germany. He also served as a recruiter and retired after 22 years of service.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Knights of Columbus where he served as district deputy, and the NRA. Hank contributed to many organizations over the years including, St. Joseph's Indian Schools, Special Olympics, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Boys Town and Chequamegon Theatre Association.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and helping in the garden. He liked to read, watch westerns, and he loved animals.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Gene Reckner.
Hank is survived by his girlfriend, Kathy Mains; daughter, Teresa (Lee) Kunes; son, Henry (Desiree) Niemann IV; wife, Cecilia (Day) Niemann; sisters, Betty Reckner and Lois (Ed) Maurer; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his nieces and nephews and his dogs, Smokey and Dixie.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 11 from Noon until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 1924 Wyoming Ave. Pastor Sarah Kerkes will officiate. Military Honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.
Burial will be in Washburn Cemetery at a later date.
If desired memorial in his name may be made to the Richard I. Bong American Legion or to the Chequamegon Theatre Association.
