Herbert "Hub" O. Martinson, 92, left this earth for his heavenly home on Jan. 23, 2011.
Hub was born to Trygve and Ellen Martinson on July 12, 1918, in Superior, Wis. and was a lifelong resident.
After marrying the former Helen Johnson on the eve of the attack on Pearl Harbor, they spent 69 happy years together.
Hub spent most of his working years as a welder at Superior Lidgerwood-Mundy. For many years he was also a member of the Elks and an avid golfer and bowler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Roy and Erling; and his sister-in-law, June.
Hub will be dearly missed by his wife, Helen; sons, Herbert (Dinnie) and Tom (Nancy); daughter, Claudia (Steve) Tadevich; seven grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild as well as additional family and friends.
A celebration of Hub's life will be held on Wed., Jan. 26, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church with visitation at 10 a.m. followed by the service at 11:30 a.m. Rev. Dr. Mark Hillmer will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Pilgrim Lutheran Church or Golden Living Center in Superior.
Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th St. and Ogden Ave., is assisting the family with arrangements.
