Howard G. Ettestad, 78, of Superior, died Friday, March 21, 2014, at Solvay Hospice House, Duluth.

He was born June 27, 1935 in Northome, Minnesota, son of Henry and Anna (Sorquist) Ettestad.

Howard worked as an electrician for Reserve Mining in Silver Bay for over 30 years and retired from Superior Wood Systems.

He was a member and past board member of Tri Lakes Community Club, and a former member of the Steelworkers Union.

His favorite hobby was spending time in his workshop building furniture and other wood projects, when he was not out building houses.

Preceding him in death were his parents; grandson, Noah Ettestad; step-son, Anthony Burbul; brothers, Archie, Knute, Myron and Milton; and sisters, Velma, Lila and Eunice.

Survivors include his wife, Pat; daughter, Bonnie Germann; son, Wayne Ettestad; grandchildren, Joe Germann, Blake, Haley, Cole, Walker and Laiken Ettestad; step-daughter, Chris (Stuart) Soland; step-grandchildren, A.J. Soland, Monica Soland, Anna, Dan and Jon Burbul; brothers, Gordy (Pat) Ettestad and Vince (Pat Torgerson) Ettestad; sister, Rosaline (Allen) Nessett; many nieces and nephews;  and grand-dog, Bailey.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19 ^th Street, Superior. The visitation will resume at 10 until the 11 a.m. service, Wednesday, at Country Peace Presbyterian Church, 4694 S. Cty. Tk. A, Superior, with Reverend Richard Blood officiating.

Pallbearers will be Wayne and Walker Ettestad, Joe Germann, Stuart Soland,  and Chris and Brian Eccles.

The committal service will be held at Parkview Cemetery, Hawthorne, at a later date.
