Hugh C. McKay, 88 of Superior, died Friday August 19, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones, at Essentia St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth.

Hugh was born in Superior on Aug. 18, 1934, the son of Hugh Francis and Violet McKay.

He served his country with the US Army. He had worked as a custodian in the Superior School District for many years. In retirement he loved working as a tour guide for the William A. Irvin. He also worked for the DECC putting up posters and most recently he worked for the Duluth News Tribune selling subscriptions and doing re-deliveries.

Hugh was very social and loved talking with people. He also enjoyed going to the casino and to buffets. Back before cell phones, he enjoyed keeping in contact with is wife Susan on the CB Radio and his handle was "Huggy Bear."

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Susan; siblings, Jim, Bill, Marie Kuznia, Tom, Jack (Helen), and Margaret; and brother-in-law, Gary Krisak.

Hugh is survived by his daughters, Michelle (Kyle) Thimm, Christine McKay, and Mary Jo 'Moe' (Dean) Miller; grandchildren, Kaylee Ramel and Klayton Thimm; sisters, Sis (Phil) Stariha and Kitty Krisak; sister-in-law, Darlene McKay; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 25 ^th from 11:00a.m. until the Noon funeral service at Central Assembly of God Church, 3000 Hammond Ave, with Pastor Dan Stone as officiant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Thimm, Dan Stone, Jon Krisak, Phil Stariha, and Mike Krisak.
