Irene M. Ivy, 89, of Superior died Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Golden Living Center in Superior.
Irene was born on March 26, 1921 in Flint, Mich. the daughter of Mary L. (Herfurth) and Glenn E. Ballard.
In her early years Irene was a member of the Pi Omicron Sorority in Flint and of the Esther Circle at Bethany Methodist Church in Clio, Mich.
She loved to bake and travel with her husband, William. Throughout their lives they were able to live in different places including, Michigan, New York, Arizona, Florida and then came to Superior to be close to their family. Most important to her was her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and she always enjoyed reading to her grandchildren.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Barbara.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, William; daughter, Janet Branley of Superior; granddaughters, Amy (Andre) Nantkes of Cardiff by the Sea, Calif. and Chelsea Branley of Superior; great-grandchildren, Maddox, Cayden, and Karina Irene; and brothers, Richard E. Ballard of Flushing, Mich. and Robert G. Ballard of Grand Blanc, Mich.
A graveside service will be held at a later date in Flint, Michigan.
